Choose the trigger you intend to use
| Mode | Your input | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| OFF | Ordinary controls | Quickstop does not start its own sequence. |
| AUTO QS | Move with the left stick, then press Square / X without L2 / LT. | The captured Quickstop path briefly settles movement and sequences the supported output. |
| L2 + Square / LT + X | Hold L2 / LT while pressing the physical shot button. | The trigger-combination path can start even when the character is stationary. |
Use a clear direction rather than a barely moved stick when first checking AUTO QS. The source has a movement threshold. Its internal stop and shot delays are not exposed customer timing controls, and they are not measured animation timings.
Check which feature owns the input
- TEMPO LOCK must be OFF. Its manual hold-and-release path takes priority before this Quickstop route.
- BUTTON LOCK must be OFF for an isolated physical Square / X test. Dedicated Button Shooting handles that input instead when it is enabled.
- An active OneTap or other shot sequence can own the sticks and cancel a pending Quickstop action. Start the comparison from idle.
- Keep Custom Dribbles and Meter Dunk off during the first Quickstop check. Bring features back one at a time after the input is clear.
Turning Quickstop on does not mean every shooting input becomes a Quickstop trigger. A stick-click OneTap and the physical shot button are different routes.
Run a short, readable test
- Save or note your original mode settings. Select one Quickstop mode and leave other movement sequences off. Close the Zen menu with L2 + Options / LT + Menu, then release the chord before testing.
- For AUTO QS, move clearly in one direction, release sprint, and press the physical shot button without L2 / LT. For the trigger mode, deliberately hold L2 / LT with the press.
- Observe the stop input and the shot separately. If a different mode starts, return to the priority checks rather than changing SET TIME or RELEASE PT.
- Repeat under the same conditions. Only restore other features after you can identify which input starts the sequence.
The script can request controller output; it cannot guarantee that a particular in-game animation stops, that a shot greens or that one setup works in every mode.
If Quickstop does nothing
| Symptom | Check next |
|---|---|
| Holding Square / X starts a rhythm action | Inspect TEMPO LOCK and BUTTON LOCK before the Quickstop setting. |
| AUTO QS never starts from standing still | Use a clear moving baseline or choose the explicit trigger-combination mode. |
| A stick-click starts a shot without the expected stop | Read SHOT BIND and OneTap; that click is not the same physical button route. |
| Changes appear missing | Reopen QUICKSTOP on the active device slot and compare it with the saved profile. |
These controls were checked against the same base V6 reference used by this handbook. Check the version and sources if your installed menu differs.
